Melba Jean Ferrell, 79, of Pasadena, Texas passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017.Born in Anderson County on September 2, 1937, she graduated from Galena Park High School and received her Associate's of Science.

She worked as a suite secretary for the University of Houston-Clear Lake and found so much joy in her role, she continued to carry around her parking pass even after retirement. Her true joy in life though was fulfilling her role as Mom to her children. She never missed an opportunity to support her family and worked to keep everyone...

Melba Jean Ferrell, 79, of Pasadena, Texas passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017.Born in Anderson County on September 2, 1937, she graduated from Galena Park High School and received her Associate's of Science.

She worked as a suite secretary for the University of Houston-Clear Lake and found so much joy in her role, she continued to carry around her parking pass even after retirement. Her true joy in life though was fulfilling her role as Mom to her children. She never missed an opportunity to support her family and worked to keep everyone smiling and laughing. Melba Jean was a Godly woman and a true prayer warrior. She never met a stranger and served as an active member of The Lunch Bunch.

An always smiling face and selflessly giving heart, Melba will be remembered as the World's Best Mimi. Her grandchildren were the most important thing her in life. Melba Jean aimed to leave a piece of her heart with everyone she met.

She is preceded in death by her brother Larry Walding, sister Shirley Walding, and parents Bill and Lucille Walding.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Juli Ferrell Hammonds and husband Billy, Shirley Ferrell Murrell and husband Jessie, Jonathan WM Ferrell, Keri Ferrell Fitzgerald and husband Rick.

Melba Jean's grandchildren were the most important thing in her life and she will be remembered as the World's Best Mimi to her grandchildren: Brandon Weaver and wife Roselyn, Meagan Hammonds, Destiny Weaver, Brandy Hammonds, Leslie Murrell, Seth Ferrell, Skylar Ferrell, Addison Fitzgerald, Conner Fitzgerald, and great-grandson Brayden Weaver.

She also leaves behind her siblings: Jerry Walding, Bobby Glen Walding, Jim Walding, Mark Walding, David Walding, Margaret Callaway and their spouses.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 20 from 5-7pm at Grand View Funeral Home. A Memorial Celebration will be held Saturday, June 24 at 4:30 pm at New Beginning Church located at 4251 Schurmier Rd Houston, Texas 77048. Ms. Ferrell's family asks that floral donations be sent for the visitation only.
