Eloisa (Ellie) Morales Matteson was born on August 16, 1935 in San Fernando, Pampanga Philippines, and she passed away on October 7, 2016 at the age of 81. She was preceded in death by her parents, Valentin and Ester Mago Morales; brother, Rogelio Morales; and sister, Liberty "Betty" V. Tropa.

Ellie is survived by her husband of 48 years, Edgar Glenn Matteson; her son, Guillermo Co and wife, Gloria; as well as grandchildren, Thomas Co and wife, Virginia; Gil Co and wife, Tina; Eric Co and wife, Natalie; and her great grandsons, Austin and Luca.

She is also survived by siblings, Leticia Olalia, Carmencita David, Norma Williams, Victorie Morales, Alicia Villarreal, Clara Franco and Raymundo Villarreal.

Ellie was a loving, kind-hearted woman who was generous to every person she encountered, including family, friends and complete strangers. Though she moved from the Philippines to Texas in 1970, she never forgot her family back home and continued to provide them with love and support. She maintained her strong will and fighting spirit even through her last moments on this earth. She had a soft spot for dogs and loved raising her border collies, Rebel #1, Rebel #2, Rebel #3 and Rex. She had a green thumb and enjoyed growing beautiful flowers and plants. She believed singing to her flowers made them happy. She enjoyed playing bingo, mahjong, poker and other games with family and friends. However, she could not be trusted to play the role of banker during Monopoly games, as the $500 bills would mysteriously disappear. She particularly enjoyed watching TV game shows, wrestling and cheering for her favorite Houston sports teams, the Astros, Rockets and Texans.

But, nothing compared to the joy she received when spending time with her family, especially her grandsons and great grandsons. Ellie's gracious nature, sense of humor, spunky personality, great conversations, warm smile, and sweet voice will greatly be missed.
